DevLog #3 – Press Play to Start 🎮


What's up everyone?!

This week I added the UI to the shared project, so the character controller, enemy AI, and UI are now all working together. The main menu and pause systems are connected and fully functional. When the game starts, the main menu appears first with Play and Exit options, and the buttons react to hover input so it feels responsive.

In game, the pause menu now works as intended, you can resume or return to the main menu, and the background blurs and darkens when paused to make it clear that everything’s frozen. I also updated all the UI graphics to match the game’s style, which really helped everything feel cohesive.

Setting up the Blueprints took some troubleshooting since our character controller is split into two parts, and that caused some hiccups with pausing at first. Thankfully, the fix was simple once I figured out what was happening, and it all runs smoothly now.

Next up: more polish and sound! 🎣
